The absence of LTE antennas does not prevent normal use of the router. The following scenarios work fully without any antenna:

🔹 Why are the LTE antennas not included?
This used device arrived to us without its original LTE antennas. Rather than providing substitute antennas whose compatibility or signal quality we cannot guarantee, we have chosen to sell the router without antennas and clearly inform the buyer. The female SMA connectors on the chassis are intact and functional. You can connect any standard external LTE antenna with an SMA connector, easily available online from just a few euros. Cisco, for example, references antennas like the ANT-4G-SR-OUT-TNC-N or compatible multi-band SMA 4G LTE equivalents.
🔹 Does the router operate normally without the LTE antennas?
Absolutely. The absence of LTE antennas has no impact on the other functions of the router. All network capabilities — VDSL2/ADSL2+, Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, SFP, dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP), IPSec/SSL VPN, VLAN, QoS, Cisco Viptela SD-WAN — work perfectly without any antenna. Only 4G LTE connectivity is unavailable until compatible SMA antennas are connected to the dedicated chassis ports.
🔹 Which LTE antennas are compatible with this router?
The C1117-4PLTEEA has two female SMA connectors for external LTE antennas. Any external 4G LTE antenna with a male SMA connector supporting European LTE bands (B1, B3, B7, B8, B20, B28 notably) is compatible. Standard omni-directional multi-band SMA LTE antennas are perfectly suitable for most deployments. For specific needs (long range, outdoor installation), directional or panel antennas can be considered.
🔹 Is this router compatible with French DSL lines?
Yes, the C1117-4PLTEEA supports ADSL2+ and VDSL2 (Annex A) standards, deployed on xDSL infrastructures in France and Europe. For fiber or Ethernet connections, simply use the Gigabit Ethernet WAN port or the SFP slot with the appropriate optical module for your operator (Orange, SFR, Bouygues, Free, etc.).
🔹 Is a Cisco license required to use the device?
The router runs natively on Cisco IOS XE. Some advanced features — IPS/IDS, Cisco Viptela SD-WAN — may require Smart Licenses purchased directly from Cisco. We do not offer software licenses or provide technical support for activation or configuration.
🔹 How to reset the router to factory settings?
Resetting can be done via the CLI command write erase followed by a reload, or via the physical reset button on the chassis. This operation erases the current configuration and restores factory settings.
